Johanna Kantola
Professor of Gender Studies, Tampere University
Johanna Kantola is Professor of Gender Studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Tampere University (Finland) and a Docent in Politics in the University of Helsinki. She is the director of the ERC Consolidator Grant research project Gender, Party Politics and Democracy in Europe: A Study of the European Parliament’s Party Groups (EUGenDem, 2018–2023). She was also the director of the Academy of Finland-funded research project Gender and Power in Reconfigured Corporatist Finland (GePoCo, 2016–2020). She has published numerous articles in, for instance, European Journal of Political Research, Party Politics, Journal of Common Market Studies, International Political Science Review, Social Politics, Legislative Studies, Representation, Politics & Gender. Her books include Gender and Political Analysis (with Emanuela Lombardo; Palgrave, 2017); Gender and the European Union (Palgrave, 2010); Feminists Theorize the State (Palgrave, 2006). She is the editor of Palgrave Macmillan’s Gender and Politics book series with Sarah Childs.
