Elisabetta De Giorgi

Associate Professor of Political Science, University of Trieste

Elisabetta De Giorgi is Associate professor of Political Science at the University of Trieste. She worked as a Research fellow at the University of Siena until 2011, before moving to the NOVA University of Lisbon in 2012 and then to Trieste in 2018. She is Associate editor of the journal South European Society and Politics and was managing editor of the Italian Political Science Review from 2019 to 2022. She is co-chair of the Standing Group Government, Parliament, Representation of the Italian Political Science Association (2022-). Her main research interests are representative institutions and the behaviour of the various institutional actors within them, recently with a focus on how gender issues are framed by political parties both inside and outside the parliamentary arena. She has published several articles and co-edited a number of special issues in national and international journals and the volume ‘Opposition Parties in European Legislatures’ (2018). She has participated in several national and international research projects and she currently is head of the Trieste research unit of the PRIN 2020 project ‘Democracy under Pressure’ (2022-) and the PRIN PNRR project ‘The institutionalization of LGBTIQ+ equality in EU countries between advancements and oppositions’ (2023-).
