Elin Bjarnegård

Associate Professor, Uppsala University

 

Elin Bjarnegård is Associate Professor in Political Science and Senior Lecturer in Development Studies at the Department of Government at Uppsala University. In 2020-2021, she was a Fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences, where she worked on a book about gender politics in authoritarian states. Her research focuses on gender, masculinities, informal institutions, political parties and conflict. She is the author of the book Gender, Informal Institutions and Political Recruitment: Explaining Male Dominance in Parliamentary Representation (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013) and her research contributing to feminist institutionalism has been published in journals such as Government & Opposition, Party Politics, Comparative Politics and Politics & Gender. Bjarnegård is one of the series editors of the new Oxford University Press book series on Feminist Institutionalist Perspectives and was the one of the editors of the Rowman & Littlefield miniseries with the same name.
