Our recent study finds that feminist institutionalism has been utilised to examine the gendered aspects of institutions in 88 countries, across all seven continents of the world, including Antarctica. Scholars have even gone so far as to apply feminist institutionalism to outer space, examining the gendered nature of scientific exploration. Accordingly, the utility of the discipline is not confined to western democratic systems, but has engendered understanding of institutions as diverse as intra-household climate change strategies in rural Kenya and the professionalisation of female preachers in Turkey. – Sarah Easy
